Interior Design Ideas – Hockingstuart

A huge thank you to the team at Hockingstuart for choosing our design to feature in Red magazine! We were super happy to see one of our interiors on the cover of Issue 14 last May. Therefore here are some interior design ideas that can inspire you.

Hockingstuart

Hockingstuart is one of the leading Real Estate agencies in Victoria. In fact its magazine showcases properties for sale in Melbourne. With offices throughout Victoria, Hockingstuart was the first Real Estate agency to publish its properties for sale in magazine format. Since their creation in 1985, they have thrived in the Real Estate industry, becoming the premium Real Estate network in all Victoria.

You can find its agencies all around Melbourne, including suburbs such as Carlton, Fitzroy, Brunswick, Northcote, Richmond, South Yarra, and Mt Waverly. Be sure to pick up a copy of their magazine at your local agency to see some of the amazing properties they profile each week!

The Entrance Way

Hockingstuart chose the living area and entrance way of a South Melbourne interior to be featured on the cover of their May 2016 edition. For this space, we worked closely with the homeowners to help create the exact look they were going for with their home.

The owners wanted a home that was modern but unique. To create this, we used modern furnishings with a few eclectic touches.

In the living area, we used dark furniture for simplicity, comfort and classic style. A geometric patterned rug in deep blue was added to create a subtle touch of colour. We chose the living area table in a raw, textured wood to offset the modern aspects of the room. Also, we chose a John Martono art piece to suit the colour palette and add a point of interest.

Our favourite part to design was the entrance way. The owners decided they wanted something simple but bold. So we used a statement Kazari art piece to add a burst of colour and a little artistry to the space. To compliment it, we found an antique Chinese table in emerald green.

We continued the modern feel with a few touches of on trend metallic. A simple bookshelf adds a sense of home, as well as concealing a hidden television.

This was a three level terrace that was entirely reconfigured, so it was an exciting space to design. At Spinzi we like to look at people’s personal style and reflect this in our interiors. One of the owners was Italian, so we wanted to emulate that with the decor.

Simple Elegance

The owners aim with this space was to keep things relatively simple, with a focus on unique pieces. To achieve this, we paired modern pieces with Italian and Chinese antiques, juxtaposing the old with the new.

This project was done on a relatively low budget. Therefore it was fun to get creative and find a way to achieve the homeowners desired look.

Based in South Melbourne, this home ended up being one of our favourite interiors. We were super excited to be chosen for the cover of red magazine – thanks Hockingstuart! Be sure to grab a copy of their magazine next time you’re near an agency. They showcase some stunning interiors design ideas and release a new issue each week.
