Description

Gianfranco Frattini, born in Milano in 1926, has been one of the founders of the modern design movement in Italy. Spanning over more than five decades, his production is represented by tables, chairs, lounge chairs and many more pieces of furniture mostly crafted in solid wood.

He worked for many different brands including Bottega Ghianda, Knoll, Tacchini and Bernini. And Bernini is indeed the maker of these two servants crafted from solid walnut and marketed under the designation 501. Characterized by the uncommon and extremely refined design of the legs, the two sideboards show a very high level of craftsmanship throughout. A noteworthy detail is the use of two, specular panels of solid wood to realize the sliding tambour doors.

One has two shelves – one per part – while the other has one shelf to the right and four drawers to the left. Both the drawers and the doors slide smoothly. The sideboards still retain an original Bernini sticker on the inside and are preserved in excellent conditions.
