Giò Ponti probably needs no introduction: he’s been arguably the most influential personality in italian design and architecture for almost three decades, from the Fifties throughout the Seventies. In his long career, he’s been able to leave an unforgettable mark on furniture, tableware, architecture and interior decoration.
Amongst his most famous works, stands the 646 Chair designed for Cassina, and aptly name “Leggera”, italian for Lightweight, given its modest weight. However, the Leggera remains more sturdy and a little heavier than its more famous sibling, the 699 “Superleggera”, which is so light you’re almost worried to sit on.
We are glad to offer these two original chairs, produced and originally delivered in the seventies and now refinished in smooth green velvet to compliment the natural lacquered wood frame.
