Description

Gaetano Sciolari is widely regarded as one of the most innovative, prolific and eclectic lighting designers of the Space Age period. Born and lived in Italy, he created several celebrated designs for lighting company Stilnovo and also collaborated with Goffredo Reggiani. His pieces knew a worldwide success, being imported into the US by Lightolier and Progress Lighting. It is not uncommon to spot his designs in mansions around the world, as well as in tv shows set in the 1970s and 1980s.

He worked almost only with metal, and his most famous and appreciated designs are those in silvered tubes, cubes or spheres – both shiny/chromed or matte. He confronted himself with all kinds of lighting, from chandeliers and sconces to floor and table lamps. The offered piece is indeed a chandelier, built around an hexagonal module with a total of 13 lights.

It is perfectly preserved and in full working order, and comes complete with its 13 light bulbs. The cable currently has a plug, but can of course be connected directly to a ceiling wiring. It has a diameter of 66cm and a heigth of 34 cm.
